About Me! Leanne & friend

Massage

I am a CANINE MASSAGE THERAPIST licensed by the State of Washington to do small animal massage. I graduated from the Northwest School of Canine Massage, passed the National Exam and am now practicing in North Kitsap County.

I love working with active performance dogs involved in a sport (obedience, protection, agility, etc) and may need maintenance massage or massage to help recuperate from an injury.

I also enjoy helping our elderly canine citizens who are suffering from arthritis or other chronic problems due to age or disease. Massage can help to relieve pain around stiff joints and improve circulation to help relieve inflammation or muscle soreness.

Obedience

I also have been training people to train their dogs for many years.  I taught classes in the Portland, OR, area for several years as well as working with dogs on a private basis.  I have trained and competed with a wonderful Old English Sheepdog, several Bearded Collies and now have 2 awesome German Shepherd dogs.

My training philosophy uses positive reinforcement rather than punishment.  I believe dogs learn more quickly through reinforcing the things we want them to do – they quickly see for themselves what works and gets reward.  Dogs will repeat behaviors that are rewarding for them so I try to capitalize on that truth.

Summary

  • Over 30 years of experience

  • AKC obedience competition

  • Herding training

  • Agility training

  • Breeding and show competition with Bearded Collies

  • Currently own two German shepherd dogs

  • Offering obedience classes for Shade’s Dog Training and private lessons when needed.

It is a joy to me to see the progress that dogs and their owners make over time by helping the dog to be a happy, healthy companion. That is what hooked me on working with dogs and it’s fun to share that experience with others.

Please feel free to call me with your questions for more information.
